Backstage Pass: Ricko AK Facebook Interview #HustleMode

Yes, we are at it again! SC took to socially stalking Rick AK, and we conducted an interview via Facebook.  Nothing is more fun than burning up timelines, and getting the inside scoop on a rising artist!  We caught up with Alabama’s King before the release of a fresh new freestyle entitled “HustleMode” that he whipped up; to see what the latest is in his ever progressive career.  There is a strong buzz growing  around Ricko AK from the stage to the big screen.   This CEO/Recording Artist/Songwriter/Actor/Model/Graphic Designer stays in his “HustleMode” so it seems fitting to make a freestyle carrying that same moniker.

You have been very busy paving your way in the industry so let’s get right into it.  Tell Me about PUSH.  I know that it premiered in Boston a while back and you celebrated that with your partners on the project, but walk me through its recent developments.

Ricko AK: Right now PUSH is playing on ESPN Classic and just started airing on Magic Johnson’s new ASPIRE network. Definitely a big blessing for me and my team!

How does it feel having your music be a part of all of it?

Ricko AK:  It feels good, there is no better feeling than watching an idea come to life through music.  All the late nights in the studio are starting to pay off!  Honestly I’m glad because I work hard!

Hard work definitely pays off and it’s a blessing to see the fruits of your labor. When you saw the documentary for the first time, what was your “take away” from it?

Ricko AK:  The documentary touched on a lot of different aspects of life in general.  The lessons that stuck with me are to keep a positive attitude and go for what’s yours! Regardless of whether you win or not isn’t the most important thing, the most important thing is whether you gave it your all and to me that’s what counts.

You have managed to keep it positive and have created more than one successful lane for yourself. Thinking about that; in your words how do you think these upcoming and aspiring artists should apply that to their music journey? A lot of them are so focused on winning, but not really winning.

Ricko AK: I think they should look at it from the stand point of telling their story and not the “story” that seems the most fitting for today’s trends in music. There is nothing cooler than stepping out of your own way and driving in your own lane to reach what you set out to reach! Once you do that; no one can say shit.

Speaking of “PUSH”, we are getting close to the end of the year; will O4DG be released before the year is out?

Ricko AK: I’m really taking my time with this project because I don’t want it to be nothing less than a “movie” when the fans hear it.  Right now it’s really up in the air but it is coming though!

I always say, you can’t rush a work of art.  I know your fans are anticipating it though; do you think there might be a first single release in the very near future?

Ricko AK: It is very possible!

At least your fans aren’t going completely without; tell me about ‘HustleMode”.  Who produced it; the beat is fiyah!

Ricko AK: It’s a freestyle I’m releasing based off of DJ Scream’s new single called “HoodRich Anthem”. The beat is crazy so I just wanted to do my thing with. I got with the engineer and the rest is history.  I’m feeding the streets crumbs now, but the feast coming!

You definitely delivered!  Your fans won’t be disappointed! It’s kind of a new sound for Ricko AK; what was your inspiration behind that?

Ricko AK: I appreciate it! Being in Atlanta for a few years now has definitely found its way into my music.  Being in and out these clubs and different venues, you definitely see and hear a lot of things. Now I have a better understanding of exactly what my purpose is with this music.   That is to be as truthful and blunt as I need to be to make my audience understand exactly where I came from and where I’m going.

With the release of “HustleMode”; could this be a hint to a new mixtape in the making?

Ricko AK: Yeah, we are definitely working and we are going into the New Year stronger than ever!

WS4 (Warning Shotz 4: AK’z Revenge) definitely did its thing; will this (new project) be new installment on the Warning Shotz series? Or are you doing something new?

Ricko AK: No, I said all I needed to say with WS (Warning Shotz) series. I ended it on Good Nite for a reason!   I’m playing with a few ideas but you can guarantee it’s going to be that fiyah though!

Sounds like you are about to unleash a serious beast on the streets and the industry! I’m definitely looking forward to what’s to come! So what else are you working on? What else do we have to look forward to?

Ricko AK:  More music and getting into more acting. I just launched Lavish Lyfe Designs, a graphic company. A lot of people don’t know about my hustles but that’s one of them!

Do you have any last words for your fans?

Ricko AK: Live your dreams!  Ova 4 Da Game on the way! #salute

Ricko AK Twitterview

With the new launch of Ricko AK’s  new website and Lavish Lyfe Designs,  we figure we would take advantage of the latest benefit of the Digital Era and celebrate it by utilizing the social network to conduct an interview.  It’s a bit unorthodox, not the traditional method of interviewing, but it was fun to burn up the timelines for some social engagement and to catch up with Ricko AK (#AlabamaKing).  And yes, we kept it 100 with the “TweetSpeak” and all.  Make sure you log on to www.rickoakmusic.com to stay updated on all that Ricko AK, and Lavish Lyfe Music Group are doing.   Check out the #AKTwitterview!

@1stladye: Congrats on the new website http://www.rickoakmusic.com. What type of feedback have you rec’d?

@rickoAkmusic: Everybody’s luv’n it… thx for asking!

@rickoAKmusic: Very bc it brings your fans into your world & allows them to understand you more as an artist

@1stladye: True, is this where ur new biz Lavish Lyfe Designs will capitalize?

@rickoAKmusic: In so many ways yea… LLD is under my parent company Lavish Lyfe (the label). We bout to do some things w/ it!

@1stladye: The new track MVP; saw on your FBook you did the track in less than 24 hrs. What was your motivation?

@rickoAKmusic: I agree… let’s work!

@1stladye: Now I have to ask the infamous question, as an artist; MAJOR or INDIE?

@rickoAKmusic: I would like to do a venture thru a major but only if it’s the best look for me & mines… otherwise indie all day!

@1stladye: Why though? What are the benefits of being indie?

@rickoAKmusic: You own your own masters, put out material when you’re ready, & can make as much money as you want! #nobrainer

@1stladye: A man abt his biz! Respect! As a CEO, what impact will LLMG have on the music business/the indie market/ent.?

@rickoAKmusic: The music will def speak for itself & if you’re big on ride out muzik then we are ya go to guys for that.

@1stladye: Being a CEO, an indie artist, and building a brand takes hustle.  What is your definition of a “TrueHustla”?

@rickoAKmusic: A “TrueHustla” is anybody that can take very lil’ and turn it into a gold mine using only the tools given.

@1stladye: You have been stamped #AlabamaKing, where is the state of music in Alabama?

@rickoAKmusic: Music wise we’re fine, always been but now I think the industry is starting to take Alabama more seriously.

@1stladye: Amongst the artist there; Unity or “Crabs in a Barrel”?

@rickoAKmusic: From my experience; a LOTTA crabs but the streets f*ck with me and that’s a whole other side so it balances out.

@1stladye: What artist would you co-sign from back home?
